On the "Send a Text Message" detail page
http://www.livejournal.com/tools/textmessage.bml?mode=details it says "We'd
prefer you give us", which I guess should finish "details of your service
provider" ;-)
So, here goes. I live in the UK, and have a Cellnet mobile phone. Cellnet
users can receive text messages via (number)@mmail.co.uk where number is
the full international number, so mine is +447715373186@mmail.co.uk. There
is no limit to the length of the message - if it can't be sent all at once,
you can get it in chunks. Users have to activate the service, as explained
at
http://www.btcellnet.net/cgi-bin/iminst2-1/zt/top_index.jsp?navcat=/conNav/conServices&titl=Mmail&xid=conmsgserv
I've set up my text messaging with the Service Provider as "other" and the
email address in the number field, as instructed. If I go back to edit my
profile again, these settings have gone, and even if I re-enter then, I
can't send myself a message.
Is there a link to the message sending screen anywhere? I found it by
accident.
Thanks.
My LJ account name is banana.
